First met 15th September 1971 - the day we both joined a "Company Students" course at Clarks, in Street, Somerset. We later both attended Bath University, and on leaving that course, we both joined Clarks full-time - she in Silflex factory, Street, and me in Townsend factory, Shepton Mallet, where I found accommodation we shared with others for a year or more, before going our separate ways. Last met shortly prior to the opening of a Clarks "Torlink" franchise shop in/near Southsea, that belonged to another friend of mine, in 1984 or thereabouts, and since heard of occasionally through another Clarks Company Student, Tim Bown, both being Somerton Councillors for a time. A shock to hear of her early death and a sad reminder of the mortality of us all. And sorry not to have heard of whatever ailed her, in time to visit at a better time than a cremation. Patricia Anne Bennett was a good-looking gal in her day, a bright spark and always good fun to be with, professionally or socially. So many memories - from being on the same Work-Study course at the start of our careers, to late night sessions in The Bell Hotel in Shepton. Deserving of better than she seems to have got, and with her loss, a part of my distant youth is gone. Sleep well, dear heart.
