I was honoured & privileged to visit Dr Rose weekly at St Joseph's until Covid restrictions prohibited, and then, thankfully able to speak to him weekly on the phone. A highlight was celebrating his 100th Birthday in 2019. I'd known him in various contexts spanning many years, mainly through Education when he was the Staffordshire R E Inspector & then as Deputy Chief Education Officer. Being a fine & highly respected musician, as well as being an organist at St Bertelin's Church for over 31 years, he was the Musical Director for Stafford Operatic Society when I was a member. His witty retorts being legendary! His talents didn't stop there, as he was an accomplished Tennis Coach at
Great Bridgeford for many years.
During recent years of failing physical health, he was an inspiration throughout, fighting valiantly and maintaining highly intellectual conversations, with much anecdotal humour throughout.
I will sadly miss him, RIP Ken.
