Mrs Lorna Jean (Llanelli)TOVEYLorna Jean Tovey, aged 88, passed away peacefully on 18th July at home surrounded by her loving daughters. Lorna was born in Burry Port on the 12th day of June 1934, the youngest of four daughters of Howard and Hilda Williams. Lorna was educated in the local community and after leaving school took up a role in the Royal Ordnance Factory in Pembrey. Lorna met a young chap called Alford at the local tea dance, soon became inseparable and they married at St Mary's Church in Burry Port on 1st August 1956 at 8.00 am, as they didn't want a fuss. They made their family home in Waun Road. Family life was everything to Lorna and Alford and were delighted to announce the arrival of their first born Michael in 1957, Arlene in 1960 and Karen a later arrival in 1973 to add to their growing family. Lorna enjoyed nothing more than her holidays in the caravan and abroad with Alford and the children. Lorna was happy knitting and sewing in her spare time, together with beating her grandchildren at table tennis and draughts. Lorna was a passionate member of the congregation at the local Jehovah Witness Hall in Llanelli, where she made life long friendships, including friends in Australia. Even during Corona virus, Lorna became a technological Wizkid and mastered Zoom, where meetings were frequently held online. Lorna would put her glad rags on as if she was physically present in the hall for the Zoom meetings, which made her daughters laugh. Lorna will be fondly remembered for her positive attitude and caring nature. Lorna was far more interested in others rather than talking about herself. Even in her last days when she was poorly, when asked how she was, Lorna replied "that's enough about me, tell me about the family", which just summed Lorna up. Lorna was the beloved wife of the late Alford George Tovey and is survived by her three adoring children, namely Michael, Arlene and Karen, son in law Will, grandchildren Sarah, Hannah, Sam and George and great grandchildren Ivy and Penny. The funeral service takes place at Llanelli District Cemetery on Tuesday 2nd August at 10.30 am. Close family and friends only. There will be family flowers only, donations can be made to Marie Curie at Wales Fund raising Supporter Relations Team, PO Box 23897, 14 Links Place, Edinburgh, EH6 9AB. Or you can donate online.
