I found out today this saddest of news. I tried to telephone Brinley to invite him to dinner with mum and I when we return to Alnwick in October. We met dear Brinley last year when we stayed at the Cookie jar and he was truly one of life's dearest, kindest and most special of people. We kept in touch and during these months, we've shared stories and messages about life in service and more. He was so kind to my mother and I and we so wanted to see him again/. I send my heartfelt wishes to his family and am lost for words. May he rest in peace and may his unique spirit live on and on. Dear Brinley, I'm so sorry we won't meet again but know that you meant so very much to us even though we only met over a short stay in Alnwick. I send so much love to your family and we will forever remember the wonder of you. Hannah

I literally only just found out today, 2nd July 2020, and I'm utterly devastated. I instantly spoke to my dad who was his head of house at the High School. Brinley was always so calm and polite and a delight to be around and this is a loss to us all as a community. What a brilliant man to lose. Love to all concerned. That gulf must be vast. Much love and Brinley, we will miss you so much. Lord Warkworth.

I remember Brinley as a small boy, such a sweet and proper little lad, he and his beautiful sister Clare such happy little souls. Very sad news - sincere condolences to the whole family.

So sad to see you go so soon, it was always a joy and comfort to see your face. We had such fun times together and I always enjoyed your company and conversation immeasurably. I spoke of you often and only wish I had spoken to you more often before your sudden departure. Wishing you a safe and happy onward journey, Brinley, with love and light.

Really sad to hear this news about Brinley. We went to the Dukes School together before moving away from Alnwick and shared a lot of the same classes. Always immaculately dressed, I have yet to see another school uniform since with gold buttons...that was Brinley to a T. Reading the tributes has shown me that from childhood to adulthood, he has never changed...a caring gent. RIP mate.
