'Our Dave'
I have only ever know my Sister Pauline as part of a twosome 'Paul and Dave' and if I could sum Dave up in a few words it would be family, rugby and holidays.
Dave once said he loved the sixties because he met and married Pauline (Paul), he loved the music and he played his best Rugby.
Dave loved our Paul with a rare devotion, most the songs he listened to were about love and cherishing and that's what he did with Paul and all his family, always having a joke even in lockdown 'help get me out of here'. I only knew Dave as a gent to the end, he almost got into a fight just a few years ago defending a lady driver who was being abused by an angry cyclist. I always felt safe when Dave was around, he made you feel that way. I used to say ' no-one messes with our Dave!
Best of all Dave loved his holidays and family holidays were his favourite where he could relax and be himself. I have great memories of our family holidays, beach in the mornings and poolside in the afternoon where usually I would be thrown into the pool by Dave, there was no escape ☺️. Dave enjoyed the sunshine and having a beer or two and I hope you are raising your glass up in heaven. I will just miss your funny jokes and you being like a big brother to me and so supportive of our family especially when my Mum and Dad died. Thank you and I will miss you lots Dave. Love you XXX

Remembering Dave.

My dearest friend,
it is with great sadness I try to write these words.
Dave & Pauline have been our friends for over fourty years. Oh what happy years we have had our young children growing up living a few doors from eachother.
When illness struck leaving Mick partially paralysed, Dave was our strength. The times Dave ran up the Grove when Mick got ill at night organising the ambulance, caring for the boys & ringing me at the hospital. Nothing was ever to much trouble for him. He had a wonderful kind heart.
In the later years we had many wonderful times here and in Hightown. Memories of Dave trying to teach Martin to swim and getting Mick into the pool in Spain. Sadly when Mick passed away it was Dave's strong arm on my shoulder that gave me strength.
Dave passed away quitetly and peacefully at home leaving his beloved Pauline and family heartbroken.
Thank you Dave for all you have done. We will miss you and hold you close in our hearts until we meet again.
God rest your gentle soul.
Maureen & the Boys

It’s with deepest sadness that I have to say farewell to a long time friend and gentleman who I met playing rugby many years ago. Great memories of our playing years and watching saints. I will miss our talks on how we would fix it when they played badly.
