MarkATHERTONMark Atherton of Chesterfield Sadly passed away at the Nightingale Macmillan Unit of the Royal Derby Hospital on Wednesday 1st June. After an all to brief battle with Liver and Bile Duct Cancer. Mark worked for Derbyshire County Council as a Trading Standard Officer/Inspector of Weights and Measures. However he was far more well known in Local Radio. Starting at Hull University Radio then as a volunteer at Chesterfield and Derby Hospital Radio, continuing to Community radio which included running his own short term radio station First FM in 1997. He also worked for a myriad of Local Radio Stations including Peak, Radio Derby and High Peak Radio. He will be sorely missed by many and especially by his Partner Dee and his family and friends. The funeral will take place on Monday 11th July at Central Methodist Church, Saltergate, S40 1UH. at 11am followed by burial at Bolsover Cemetery, Bolsover, S44 6DW. Vibrant colours to be worn please, no black. Family flowers only donations in lieu will go towards NSPCC and can be sent care of the Funeral Directors.
