Jimmy, what a lovely warm-hearted, decent man.
You set us all a great example - devoting your energies to your kids and grandkids. Having fun outdoors with them. Taking them on trips. Having a laugh planning surprises for them. You adored and supported them and they will always have that.
I liked you even before I met you. Lee had told me all these stories about the outings and holidays you'd had together, laughing about what you got up to. And when we did meet, I could see immediately why he was so fond and proud of you. And you welcomed me into your family too.
You seemed to take everything in your stride. I'll never forget when you came to visit us in Ecuador. We went on a trip high up into the Andes. We'd just arrived at this little hacienda when the whole building began to violently shake, and keep shaking. We screamed to you in your bedroom - earthquake get out! We all ran down the stairs and out into the town square. And when it stopped, you turned to us and said. "Oh so that was an earthquake, what happens now?" Curious but not in the least bit fazed!
The last time we spoke you weren't well. But what you wanted to talk about were "all these people from around the world, putting their lives at risk to take care of us here". That was you Jimmy – warm-hearted and generous to the end.
Whenever I think of you I will always smile. Thank you
