Aunty Margaret, a kind, generous and hospitable lady, who always helped others. We are so privileged that you were adopted into my grandmother's family during the war, so that we were blessed by knowing you. RIP and God bless, Nicola, Phil, Laura and Hannah XXXX

My mother, born 1920, gained a sister 12 years her junior in the early 1940s. Margaret Reynard was evacuated from Hull to Selby and was brought up by my Auntie (affectionately known as Auntie Dick) with assistance from my mum for the remaining war years and afterwards until she married. I have known Margaret since she was a teenager and can remember her working at the BOCM in Selby and getting married to John Connell in September 1953 after which she and John moved to Hull. I have fond memories of staying with Margaret and John several times in early autumn in the 1950s, the attraction being evening visits to Hull fair. Margaret was a valued member of her new family and gave much in the way of support to Auntie Dick as she advanced into her 70s and 80s. Margaret was a pillar of the community and was active in Guiding and her Church for much of her adult life. I feel sure many lives have been touched by her cheerful personality, her down to earth common sense and the encouragement she gave to all. She will be missed and much remembered.
