MaryDAVIDSONMrs Mary Davidson, of Haslingden Hall and Lodge, died at Crawshaw Hall on Wednesday, February 10, aged 81. Born in Weir to Ron and Olive Crowther, Mary went to school in Wales. On leaving school she worked in administration for the family firm of Hargreaves and Crowther in Bacup along with other local manufacturers. Following her marriage to her late husband Bobby Davidson they ran J.R.Davidson and Son shoe shop in Rawtenstall, later establishing and running Gaghills House Hotel in Waterfoot prior to Bobby’s death in 1994. Mary was a devout Christian and worked as church secretary at Sion Baptist, Cloughfold for over 10 years. In her youth she was a keen sportswoman, enjoying playing cricket and golf. In later life she continued to enjoy stamp collecting and walking holidays with her friend Eileen until these were no longer possible for her. She leaves behind her sisters Delia and Brenda, sons James and Robert, daughters-in-law Annette and Ayan, and grandchildren Alexander, Oliver, Catherine and Harriet. Mary’s funeral will take place at 1.45pm on Thursday, February 25 at Burnley Crematorium, and will be led by Rev. Mark Faris-Robertson. I will always remember you and the wonderful times we enjoyed together.
