Peter HurstDURHAM1935 - 2021 Peacefully on 10th October 2021, Peter aged 86 years. The beloved Son of the late Fred Schofield Durham and the late Louie Durham. Funeral Service to be held at Rochdale Crematorium on Monday 1st November at 2.20pm. Flowers only from personal friends please, donations if desired to Arthritis Research. Requiescat In Pace. Mr. Durham was my Latin master at Todmorden Grammar School. He also taught my Uncle Charlie, my brother, Hugh, and our cousin, Richard. He was an avid collector of antiques and much of our class would be devoted to a discussion of his latest acquisition, with a few minutes of Latin at the end of the class. But we all loved him and strove to excel for him. With his encouragement I went on to study Latin at the University of Liverpool. Mr. Durham remained a friend for life, and even sent a Victorian "Baby" brooch to mark the birth of my son. He was an important part of my life, and will be missed.
