JoyceHAINSTOCK LGSM ALCMPassed away peacefully on Sunday 30th August 2020. Joyce was very active in the musical fabric of Lincoln (even well into her 80's) as pianist and an accomplished piano teacher with many pupils who have gone on to great success over the years. Joyce survived her husband Edmund who died in 2003 and she continued to teach piano until she was 85. Joyce has two sons, Tim and Chris who is married to Claire, and three grandchildren, Amy, Harry and Joe. Over the last three years Joyce was very well looked after by carers from Age UK and her family so that she could end her years in her own home. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and a musical celebration is planned for the future. For funeral details please contact Lincolnshire Co-operative Funeral Services 01522 535800.

Joyce and her two sons: Tim & Chris were the catalyst for my early musical career. I went every week for my classical piano lesson from: 1971 until 1980, but was also introduced to many current forms of music by her two sons. Eventually modern music won out, but Mrs Hainstock gave me my musical grounding, in both music theory & practical skills. Music is still the guiding force in my life! I thank her from the bottom of my heart.

In 2003, I was looking for choral society to join and was given the phone number for Joyce. I still cherish the memory of that encounter when she openly and warmly welcomed me to The North Hykeham and District Choral Society. She was a great Accompanist and a great inspiration to all who knew her. Rest in peace!

Mrs Hainstock was a wonderful teacher during my teenage years, always so kind and patient. I will be forever grateful for all the hours she sat down with me coaching through grading and competitions. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, God bless.

I was a pupil of Joyce's from 1984 through to 1994 when I left for University. I owe so much to her because through her, my life has been immeasurably enriched through an appreciation of music that I would not otherwise have developed. That was her gift to me and I am forever grateful.

I have very fond memories of The Hainstock family - we moved in next door to them in about 1976. It was an added bonus to discover that Joyce was a piano teacher! Unfortunately, due to the standard and popularity of her teaching she didn’t have space for me. However with characteristic kindness she fitted me in whenever she could. Her lessons formed the foundation of my love for the piano. My condolences go to Tim, Chris and family.

I have many happy memories of times spent with Joyce from both my childhood through to the present day. As my piano teacher in the 1970’s and 1980’s she inspired and nurtured my lifelong love of music and continued to stay in touch long after our wonderful weekly piano lessons had finished!
She was quick witted, humorous and chatty and I enjoyed all the chances we had time to spend together talking about the present and reminiscing fondly about the past.
I shall really miss her but feel privileged to have been her pupil and her friend.

I have very fond memories of Joyce, when she was The Accompanist for The North Hykeham and District Choral Society. I was M. D. from 1996 to 2006, and her super musical talents were a great support, she was also a lovely soloist in her own right. Thank you Joyce for many happy memories. Bless you, Roger Nichols.
