Dear relatives of the late Rex Hodgkinson,
I apologise for bothering you but for many years now I have been trying to trace and contact an old friend of mine, named Rex Hodgkinson and coincidentally saw the online obituary notice for your relative who looked just as I imagine my old friend would have now looked, except he didn't have a moustache and beard when I knew him and he appears a little older!
The 'Rex' I have been trying to contact, lived at Long Eaton, Nottingham with his parents and, in about 1963/64 worked for the men's outfitters, Austin Reed in Nottingham. At that time he would have been aged around 17/18 years?
He subsequently left Austin Reed and joined the army where he undertook his initial training at the Army Training Centre, Oswestry, Shropshire.
It was around this time that we lost contact.
During the time we knew each other we shared some good times and very much enjoyed each others company.
I would like to know whether I have finally traced my old friend and, if so, please accept my condolences. If this is the 'Rex' I knew I would really appreciate speaking with someone from his family who could tell me a little about how his life progressed after we lost contact and a little about his family.
I do hope you won't mind me contacting regarding this but, if this is not the person I knew, I would like to continue trying to find him.
My name is Richard Oswin and my contact details are - email richardoswin@icloud.com and mobile phone number 077 3005 9269.
Best regards,
Richard Oswin
