Amanda (Kit)HOPKINSWe are very sad to announce the death of Dr Amanda 'Kit' Hopkins on Tuesday 19th July, aged 60. Amanda was diagnosed with late-stage ovarian cancer in 2020; she was admitted to the Coventry Myton hospice for palliative care in July 2022 and died a few days later. Amanda hailed from Coventry where her parents Jilly and Peter ran Jill Hanson's Record Shop. Music was in the blood - she was a talented singer-songwriter who performed live regularly on the Coventry music scene. Amanda worked as a Senior Teaching Fellow in the departments of English and Comparative Literary Studies and French Studies at the University of Warwick from the early 2000s until 2022. Staff and students remember her as an outstanding and charismatic teacher. Funeral to be held at Canley Crematorium on 22nd August at 1.45pm, and afterwards at the University of Warwick.

Rest in peace dear Amanda. Our friendship dates back to school times but, I only really got to know the intelligent , funny, talented person that you truly were in these latter years. What a dry but accurate sense of humour !
