So sad we won’t see your smiling face back in Australia but know you’ll be having a cuppa and a yarn with pa on the other side and reunited with lovely Anne. Will miss you Uncle Doug but have lots of happy memories spanning nearly 40 years of you visiting us all in Australia.

Uncle Doug was blessed with the Lonsdale genes and was the fittest 85 year old I know. He was a creature of habit and I used to see him at the Marriott gym at the same time on the same days and he knew everyone! The amount of Metrocentre retailers who have said to me ‘I didn’t know Doug was your great Uncle’, quickly followed by ‘he’s a smashing bloke’.
I have many fond memories of the lovely house he built in Sunniside, including using the bathroom with a box of baby chicks chirping away on the floor next to the boiler!
Rest in Peace Uncle Doug. Gone but not forgotten. Helen Atkinson x
