To My dear Dad (Father-in-Law) Terry.
I called you Dad from the day I married John, it felt right, it still feels right.
You have been so supportive, so enthusiastic, resiliant and wise and have helped us so through I remember you so patiently and doggedly doing the Southport Flower Shows with me for so many years, carrying all the bags and plants and getting on the park and ride back home to only chastise John o= about his frivolous wife! I knew you only went for the hot roast beef butties and a pint of beer - but what good times we had, always ending in a pint of Guinness at the Irish Bar with John picking us up tutting at our naughtiness!!
I loved that you loved coming to ours at Hightown and looking after Meg the Corgi if we needed to go out and about. Taking Meg on permanently was a great relief to us when we moved away and I know she was great company and was a great conversation stopper, especially with the kids, when you sat out with her in Ulster Road.
It was was with great gratitude when you felt able to understand our wish to move away and even more so when you were our first visitor and became close buddies with Dexter. I have many photos of you together asleep on the couch.
This is possibly when your sense of adventure cart racing and daring adventures with John which I was too scared to try.
You embraced everything we wanted to be, without criticism or judgement, you let us be us - thankyou!
My last memory is of having tea and cake with you and Barbara when I was last there, but the enduring classical and silly thing will be me rinigng you every Friday night to check how you are and our sign off would be Woof Woof from Dexter from me and Woof Woof from you. The carers though we were mad but we knew better. I will ove you always Dad. Love you Kay xxx
