Dr. Gillian penton..
Dearest Gill I’m taking this opportunity to say a few word in memory of someone who was so special to many !!
Fist of all your family how you love and cared for your parents and your dear sister Ruth.you brought four wonderful children into the world ,whom you educated and taught them how to conduct themselves and giving them unconditional love all of which have talents of there own. Your career as a doctor ,after qualifying from Belfast you served your local community at Loughborough hospital and the Royal in Leicester being head of department you moved then to the prison service working at Leicester prison as doctor for some years showing compassion and grace to those the that would arrive at your office door many times appearing in court with the defendants while showing them kindness and compassion!!
You then moved to the home office taking on more challenges and responsibilities you became head of medical prison services reporting to the Home Secretary at the time and Rosemary wood .. you once brought her a box of Havana cigars for Christmas she was most thankful to you !
How you enjoyed those days
I remember the story’s you’d relay to family and friends. After your days at the home office you carried on working and enjoying sometime at the department of works and pensions again helping in the community dealing with people who had health issues,,
Along side your working life you began along association with the church again offering your services and expertise .

You-returned back to one of your greatest passions education and academia and went on to gain your Doctorate in Theology and Philosophy and once again putting your knowledge to good use thinking of others you became a lay reader at st James church. Helping others in need of spiritual guidance and care..
Helping out at the church fates organised prayer meeting offered pastoral care to the sick and needy and took services for many year !! On top of this there was your charity works that you were involved in , most notable the work you did with the Terrance Higgins trust and st Christopher hospice !! Again with this work you help break down barriers of prejudice amongst community’s as you would say there for the grace of god go I .you again were in the mix Educating the Ignorant,,,
Giving care to the sick and dying and comfort to the bereaved, usually their partners and parents.
How did you do it all Gillian??
I think I can say I’ve never known any other person give so much to other’s in the capacity as you did.
A life in service where you gave care and hope to others in so many domains .you are such a special person to all that knew you.Dr Gillian Penton rules ok
I’d like to just add a special
Thank you for being there along the way . I learnt so much form you and will particularly remember with fondness our journeys to Oxford when you were studying, calling in at the little chef and having egg and chips together,, and the many conversations along the way happy days …
Till we all meet again in the Heavenly Arms we rise a glass or two to you!! Or three
Much love Michael xx
