I was scrolling through Nottinghamshire Live on my iPad when I suddenly saw a photograph that I recognised immediately. I live in Nottingham but from September 1964 to July 1967 I was a student at Westminster College Oxford. John and I were in the same cohort and both studying music. He as a violinist, I as a flautist. Not only do I remember him as a fellow student and musician but also as an incredibly kind and gentle person. His personality was reflected in his face and his gentle smile. I am very sad to hear of his death but his legacy will will live on the in his past pupils.
