whom she doted on, this enabled her to return to work safe in the knowledge that Grandma would have a batch of pasties and buns waiting on her return. We went to Pilgrim Primary school where mum enjoyed the friendship of Mary and Lizzie, and had an active and fulfilling social life with them!
Mum and dad raised us in Neswick street, Stonehouse and did a grand job, we know that mum was always proud that us “inner city” kids turned out well. We have many fond memories of Frederick street school holiday club where we know mum made lots of friends .
Mum would often look forward to holidays, and these were always a source of enjoyment for her apart from when Richard helped himself to the Sangria at a welcome BBQ in France and got very inebriated!!
She positively encouraged Richard and Rebecca to embrace their Pool skills on holidays and was always dishing out 100 pesetas for the pool table, whilst she and dad tidied the rooms or something?!
Throughout her life mum unfortunately suffered with more than her fair share of ill health; let’s not forget her bad back, we remember having to strap mum into her corset and from then on was always a little wonky , I know Debbie remembers kicking over her catheter and drains after her back operation.
Unfortunately Mum and dad were not able to enjoy retirement as they had planned to do so. They had previously enjoyed trips to Italy, Switzerland, Germany and breaks with penny bars. There was nothing more she liked than a vodka and coke for 1p.
Mum had such a nurturing nature, kind, considerate and always wanted the best for her family and friends.
When her grandchildren came along, she was so over the moon to be a grandma; she had always wanted to be just like her mum. She took every opportunity to look after them and they all remember her baking, bus trips and cheese sandwiches cut into special shapes and not forgetting her cuddles. They say she was amazing which we would have to agree.
