WilfredPODMOREFormerly of Finstock Avenue, Blurton and Stoke-on-Trent City Parks Department, Wilfred died peacefully, aged 81 years at Newpark House, Trentham, after a long illness borne with dignity and courage on October 7th, 2011. Wilfred will be fondly remembered by all those who knew him. Service at Longton Spiritualist Church on Tuesday October 18th at 2pm, prior to cremation at Carmountside Crematorium. Flowers are welcome, but if preferred a donation may be made to the Newpark House c/o Forrester Brothers. Friends wishing to attend kindly meet at the church. Wilfred was a hard-working man who'd had a difficult childhood; losing his mother at an early age and growing up in austere times with a strict father.
He had a love of nature and after leaving National Service in the RAF he took up gardening as a profession. He married and helped to raise a family of three children.
He enjoyed tending his allotment, home brewing, C&W music, a bet on the horses and had a deep interest in Spiritualism. A keen cyclist he also had the use of a small motorbike and drove a three-wheeled Reliant Regal for many years.
