'Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise’ Luke 23: 39-43. ‘
'… The dying thief. In his case we have a notable example of the wondrous ways in which the Father brings sinners to meet Christ; this man had to be crucified in order to meet Christ! His means was excruciating but the end was better than his beginning that day, and now all pain has been left behind forever….’
Like the dying thief the necessary means brought my dear mother to trust Christ on her death bed.
1 Corinthians 2:9
“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
Philippians 1:23
“For ... to be with Christ; which is far better:”
Revelation 21:4
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
Until we meet again, your dear memory will ever be engraved upon my heart. With a thankful heart for His d Son and our Salvation, to God be the Glory!
To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life our redemption to win,
And opened the life-gate that all may go in.
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice;
Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport when Jesus we see.'
