Mr Ryan was an exemplary teacher - i recall watching mans first steps on the moon on a television set up in his classroom. He was a model citizen; a great teacher; and a pillar of the catholic community in Rochdale. I had the privilege to be one of his students. Chris Roche

Mr Ryan taught my two older brothers and me at St. Patrick’s. He knew our family from the parish and always stopped to talk to my parents at church asking after us long after we had left school. Our deepest condolences to the whole family, especially Maura who I then had as a form teacher in my first year at St. Cuthbert’s. May you all find comfort in the fond memories, respect and esteem that your father was held in across an entire community. We as a family, send you strength, courage and love at this sad and difficult time. You are all very much in our thoughts and prayers. From the Iannidinardi family.
