Mr Salt was an amazing teacher and person. He wrote the best school plays. Such talent. He taught so many children how to play cricket, write script, how to draw and many other skills. When teaching, Mr Salt instilled confidence and self esteem. He could always make you smile. I remember him with fond memories. Thoughts are with his family and friends.

Very sad to hear of Mr Salt’s passing. I had the pleasure of being taught by him at St Joseph’s, Goldenhill. He was a fine teacher and a lovely man, much respected by all. Rest in peace.

Sad to see this news this morning.
Some teachers stand out and stay with you throughout your life, Mr Salt was one of those.
A headteacher who took the time to get to know each and every one of his students and who genuinely cared and pushed you to be the best that you could be. He demanded respect and received it abundantly from all who he taught. Everyone who was taught by him was lucky to have had him.
A standout memory for me was when he retired and a party was held for him at the Town Hall, at the end, he was on the dance floor and Tina Turner's 'Simply the Best' was played, everyone created a circle around him and sang it to him.
He really was just that.
Rest peacefully 🤍

Mr Salt was the best headteacher I could have asked for! I have so many fond memories of English Martyrs - the Christmas plays and carol concerts, fancy dress competitions, learning to play cricket (and being one of two girls allowed to face the corky), only being allowed to sit on a chair for weekly Mass if you were in Class 4... He also taught me a lot about everything (upon arriving at St Margaret Ward I realised we'd been taught a much broader curriculum than the majority of our peers), and really developed my love of reading by encouraging me to read The Wind in the Willows. I still have all the book prizes I won, and love to see his distinctive signature in the front.
As an adult, it's been lovely to bump into him at Mass when I've been back visiting my family, and he's always been pleased to see me and keen to chat. He was pretty surprised when I became a teacher too, as he'd got me pegged for journalism!
I'm glad he'll be getting sent off in style, surrounded by his favourite colours.
