DouglasSLACK (formerly of Middleton by Wirksworth)formerly of Middleton by Wirksworth Sadly passed away peacefully after a short illness with his loving Daughters by his side, on the 11th February 2021, at the Nightingale Macmillan Unit -Royal Derby Hospital, aged 77 years. Devoted and loving Husband of the late Doreen Patricia. Much loved and devoted Dad to Stephen, Sharron and Denise. Much loved younger Brother to Rex and the late Olive, a much loved Grandad, Great-Grandad and Father-in-law, also a much loved Uncle to Ann, John and the late Michael. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. Funeral Service to be held at St Marys Church Chaddesden, on Wednesday 17th March at 10.15am, followed by burial at Nottingham Road Cemetery. Flowers welcome and may be sent to Co-operative Funeralcare, Chaddesden, or if desired donations for the Nightingale Macmillan Unit may be made online at funeral-notices.co.uk. All enquiries. Fond memories of Douglas, worked with him for many years at Balfour Beatty. He was a valued colleague and friend, loved a good grumble did Douglas but always good natured and with a grin! Condolences and best wishes to his family.

Where do I even begin 😔 I feel like I’m waiting for you to come back out of the hospital, just like I did with Nanna 😢 non of this feels real at all, you’ve always been my king n always will be grandad, what I’d do to see you gurn at me once more! I hope you and Nanna are looking after each other up there, knowing you 2 are back together is the only comfort I have of you leaving this earth. We WILL meet again one day but until then hold each other tight and wait for me. I miss you so much my grumpy grandad and I love you even more than yesterday but not as much as tomorrow, sleep tight handsome xxxx❤️

The most precious dad this world could hold, I can't believe it has been 2weeks already since you took your last breath I miss you so much and I always will, I still expect you to be sitting in your chair with you pulling a funny face n that little smile you used to do. No one knows the heartache and that empty feeling inside which you can't explain until they have lost a loved one. Now it's time for you and mum to be together again. I will miss our cups of tea in a morning before I go to work n the laughs we used to have. I know you won't be in pain any more. Please give mum the biggest hug from me when you get there and tell her I love her. I love you both so so much. FATHERS & DAUGHTERS Never say goodbye. Sleep tight my handsome and very proud man.
