JeremySMITHMr Jeremy Smith, of Poplar Close, Oswaldtwistle, died peacefully in the Royal Preston Hospital on Thursday, May 20, aged 62. Jeremy attended White Ash School as a child, going on to attend Hyndburn Day Centre, formerly Enfield Day Centre, on a daily basis for 35 years. Attending the day care centre was an incredibly important part of Jeremy’s life, with him forming close relationships with the staff and other people attending. Jeremy had an interest in arts and crafts, particularly embroidery. He was incredibly patient, spending hours at home or at the day centre creating intricate pieces of work. He also enjoyed colouring. Jeremy enjoyed interacting with others. He attended the Peter Pan Club at the Poplar Social Club on a regular basis, socialising and dancing with his friends. Throughout his life Jeremy has enjoyed a number of holidays, both in the UK and abroad. He participated in family trips to Wales and Blackpool, particularly enjoying participating in ballroom dancing at Blackpool Tower. Jeremy was the loved son of the late Edna and Ernest, a dearly loved brother of the late Duncan, late Muriel, and Peter. His brother Peter shared a particularly close relationship with Jeremy, having committed to caring for him for the past 17 years. Jeremy was also a much loved uncle, brother-in-law, and great-uncle. All those who knew him will miss him greatly. Jeremy’s funeral will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Friday, June 11, at 11am. Family flowers only please; donations in memory of Jeremy are being gratefully received on behalf of Hyndburn District Adult Disability Day Service, c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral and Monumental Services, Accrington.

Jeremy...what can I say? Everyone has a story about you, and everyone is smiling when they tell it! It's been a real pleasure spending time with you over the years. You never failed to cheer people up, and you were the first person to help if you thought someone needed it. You had a big heart and a big mischievous streak to go with it!! You'll be missed and remembered with a smile by everyone at the day service. Rest in peace love Marie x x

Haven't worked with you for over 12 months and am so saddened that i never will again, was so looking forward to getting back to normality so i could. The centre will not be the same without you. It was a pleasure knowing you, having a laugh with you, and talking about Rovers with you. You were one of the bravest and strongest person that i have ever met. Sure your motto was 'Never give in and make people smile every day'. RIP Jeremy, you will never be forgotten.

To My Best Mate Jeremy,

It's hard to put into words how much I'm going to miss you.
Your cheeky smile and mischievous grin. The best hugs everyday I came into work, which made my day and just sitting and chatting, you never failed to put a smile on my face.

You have and always will have a special place in my heart and thoughts.

Gonna miss you always,

Elaine. XX
