Ian befriended me when I first moved to Cheltenham in 1998, and was looking for opportunities to play the recorder. Very soon I was playing in various groups with his friends, who soon became my friends too. He was generous, patient, kind and unflagging in his support for organisations with which he was involved, such as Cheltenham and Gloucester Society of Recorder Players. Above all, he had a wicked sense of humour!
Rest in Peace Ian.
