The vicar Rev Derek Arnold officiated at the Service at which Mr Chris Beechey at the organ accompanied the hymns, For the Beauty of the Earth, All Creatures Great & Small, Lord of all Hopefulness. Marie the only daughter of Jack & Rita Woolf of The Talbot Inn Bideford was fondly remembered by a Eulogy read by Janet (recording), personal Tributes made by John and each of the grandchildren, Piano recordings by Kyle and an address given by Peter Kent retired Headmaster of Instow Primary School in memory of Marie's teaching career which spanned more than 20 years. Bible reading John 14 verses 1-7, recessional "Jerusalem" was played. The Service was followed by burial in the Northam Cemetery near close family. Poem "God's Garden" was read at the graveside. The Lord's Prayer recited and the traditional Celtic blessing was read to end. Immediate mourners were, John & Edward Woolf son & grandson also rep Magdalena, Robert & Sophia Barnes granddaughter, Helen Renolds, Pamela, John, Andrew & Mandy McMurray, Rebecca Tucker & David Mounce also rep John, nieces and nephews. Apologies from Joyce Heywood niece. Others attending included, Janet Kift of Lee Farm best friend, Captain Bowden, Amanda & Charlie Braddick, Theresa Hughes, Phil & Di Bissell, Jackie Pavitt rep Julie Bence, Terry Palmer, friends and neighbours Keith Dearing, Bernard Cork also rep for Roger, Gwen & Alan Mounce, friends & colleagues of Instow School, Peter & Anne Kent, Julia Wines, Sheila & Colin Ballard, David & Eillen Pedlar, Linda Cocks. Condolences came from Carol, Paul & Simon Robert's daughter and grandsons of Marie's late partner Fred Gurnhill, Jenny Shepherd nee Hoare cousin, and Karen Brewer ex pupil of Instow School. Unable to attend in person due to Covid restrictions overseas were Marie's daughter Janet & grandsons Michael & Kyle. The family wishes to thank all those who attended on the day, the Rev Derek Arnold and church warden Judy McNeill for kindly accommodating the families' requests, Chris Beechy organist, the kind person who rang the Church Bells, John and Andrew McMurray (nephews) for kindly acting as pall bearers, Peter Kent for his address, Wessex Live TV for allowing those of us overseas to watch from afar. Amanda Huxtable for absolutely splendid flowers, and last but not least Martyn Street of W S Gayton & Son for putting everything together so smoothly. Marie's club, The Conservative Club put on a lovely buffet reception afterwards where everyone drank Guinness to the toast of Marie's life.
