IreneWELBURNOn 9th October 2021 passed away peacefully at Kirkwood Hospice with her family beside her. Irene Welburn aged 73 years of Shepley, the dearly loved wife of Rick, the much loved mother of Alex, Ricky, and Michael, mother in law of Mark and Penny and proud grandma of Elliot, Rachel, Kyja, Amelia and Nell. Will friends please meet for service at Wakefield Crematorium at 11am on Monday 1st November. Family flowers only by request donations in lieu of flowers if so desired would be appreciated for Kirkwood Hospice for which a donation plate will be provided at the service. The family would like to thank Dr. Samantha Turnbull, the Greenlea Unit at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, Shepley Health Centre and especially all the staff at Kirkwood Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion given.

Irene was one of my main friends at Holme Valley Grammar School from 1959 to1964. I always relied on her to explain to me the new bit of maths we were being taught as I was slow to understand it. I only saw her a few times after schooldays and was delighted to become a FB friend and realise that we still had things in common. I'm so sorry that I wasn't able to see her again in recent years. I will miss the most wonderful, loyal and brave friend anyone could wish for. We shared many many years of happy times together, she was always there for me no matter what. I will miss her more than words can express xxx
