I have only known Robin for the last 8 years, and so did not know him when he was in his prime as a public servant. Nevertheless, from our first meeting it was clear that he had a profound sense of duty and, in particular, a deep concern for the highest ethical standards in government. I came greatly to value his wisdom and his dry humour, often delivered with a raised eyebrow. Like many others, I shall miss him and feel the poorer for his passing.

I worked with Robin and knew him well for over 40 years. He was an exemplary public servant and a loyal, wise and decent man. Driven by deep private beliefs he injected integrity into all he did. Self effacing and private, he was a model of doing things properly with dignity and respect. I respected him greatly and will miss him and his shy smile for ever.

Over several years I got to know Robin through our monthly "Backbenchers" meetings in which we discussed politics and current affairs.Robin's intellect and wisdom was the group's catalyst to seeing the bigger picture. He was truly a towering figure among us pygmies. Irreplaceable and much loved by us all.

Over several years I got to know Robin through our monthly "Backbencher" meetings in which we discussed politics and current affairs. Robin's profound wisdom and intellect stimulated us all to learn more. He was a towering gigure among us pygmies. Truly irreplaceable and much loved. Deeply saddened by his passing.
