Bernard James (Bernie)YATESPeacefully, surrounded by his loved ones and in his own home, Bernie passed away. He had fought a heroic battle against mesothelioma for the past 3 years, receiving treatment on a trial. Bernie left Lancashire at age 19 and made his life in Bournemouth starting out in the YMCA. He started his own business as a painter and decorator and worked throughout his illness. He was delighted to become a father to Jack and spent much time participating in football and quiet times building huge lego sets. He was a life long Blackburn Rovers fan attending where possible but always watching with Jack on the TV. His presence will be greatly missed in his family and his many friends. He leaves behind his wife Sharon and his son Jack, step daughter Kerri, brother Peter and sister Susan, niece and nephews. His funeral will take place in Bournemouth on Thursday 24th June at 2pm. Family flowers only, donations to Macmillan Local Cancer Care Christchurch, Marie Curie and Cancer Research UK through bournemouth@tapperfuneralservice.co.uk The funeral can be viewed online from the service and for 28 days following at the above link.
