ABRAMSCarl Charismatic singer and entertainer, well known on the local music scene for nearly 50 years, very sadly died aged 72 with his adoring son by his side. In the 1960's and early 1970's Carl was locally renowned as the energetic frontman of CARL'S FABLES. From 1974 he had a 10 year residency at the Nottingham Bier Keller leading KARL AND THE HEIDELBERGERS, taking this on the road until 2000. In later life he found his most enjoyment collaborating with songwriting couple Shipley & Shipley as part of ABRAMS. He had the career most people could only ever dream of; he never did get a 'proper job' and influenced many. His life is being celebrated at Bramcote Crematorium Serenity Chapel on Wednesday 16th September 2015 at 12:30pm and afterwards at Swancar Farm Country House. Family, friends and fans all welcome. Donations in lieu of flowers to Parkinsons UK via Co-Operative Funeralcare, 18 Tudor Square, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 6BT.

Very sad to hear about the death of Carl. I had the pleasure of performing on stage with him at over 4000 gigs. In all that time we only had to cancel once because of illness, and never had a cross word between us.
We played all over the UK and met some great characters along the way, and made memories that will never be forgotten. A true professional , and a good friend who will be missed by many.

I met Carl back in 1975 and spent many years playing trumpet with him and the guys in the band. I have many happy memories of those far off times when we played to packed houses and made records celebrating Notingham Forest among others.
