A message for Betty Furey

Thank you so much for your kind words Betty. My mum spoke of you often and was very upset when she heard of your son's death. Our family has had to cope with the loss of a dear son too, as my mum will have told you,so we empathise with you, and feel so sad for the pain you are going through. Our mum was such a special lady. She touched so many lives. Her funeral was fantastic. We had a service at the crematorium and her choir sang beautifully, followed by aservice of celebration of her life at a church in Prestwick. As you can imagine, there was a huge turnout for both services. We miss her so very much, life will never be the same. She has left a huge hole in our lives, but we have a strong faith and we know we will see her again. I had a very comforting dream a few weeks ago and in it my children and I were at a concert in a big church and we looked over to the other side of the church and my mum and John (my son) were sitting together laughing and they waved over at us. Somehow we knew we couldn't be with them, but it was very reassuring to think of them being together. They were always very close. Thanks again for your thoughtful message, our wee mum thought very highly of you. Kindest regards, Mary, Stewart and Helen

An Important Person

To Stewart, Mary and Helen,
I am not sure if you will receive this message. I have been trying to find news of your Mom and finally stumbled on this site.
Your Mom was my teacher when I was in grade 6 in Rossland - more than 50 years ago. She was without a doubt my most influential teacher with memories of strictness, but fairness, dancing and singing.
I became a friend when I babysat the 3 of you and stayed with her often when your Dad was away. We have kept in touch by mail and she shared her deep faith with me.
It was such an amazing thing when I was able to visit her in her home 3 years ago for 24 hours. She also met my son and entertained him and his girlfriend when they visited Scotland about 15 years ago. Our son died a year and a half ago and you Mom was such a comfort. She lit a candle and sat in her home at the time of the service here in Canada.
I want you to know how much she affected my life. She will always be with me.
Blessings to the 3 of you.
Betty Furey (nee Looney)
