Lionel BLAIRdead: Legendary showbiz entertainer dies aged 92 surrounded by family.
Legendary showbiz personality Lionel Blair has died, at the age of 92.
The dancer and Give Us a Clue star was a prominent figure on British TV screens since the 70s.
He died surrounded by his family, his management company said.
In recent years he appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and The Real Marigold Hotel.
His agent said: "He got to a very ripe old age, he was loved by his family, and I think he died in their company, which is lovely."
Lionel was born Henry Lionel Ogus in Canada and moved to Britain when he was just two years old, with his family settling at Stamford Hill.
The entertainer went on to work in the West End but decided to give up acting in 1947, during which he took up his stage name Lionel Blair.
Yet Lionel really shot into the spotlight in the 1960s by appearing on a number of variety shows as part of his dance troupe.
In the 1970s, Lionel turned his hand to writing as he wrote a musical based on Tolstoy's War and Peace, which toured around the UK for six months.
Towards the end of the decade and at the beginning of the 1970s, Lionel appeared as one of the team captains on Give Us A Clue, which aired right through until the 1990s.
He starred in a number of sketches throughout, including one with Ronnie Corbett and Rob Brydon and another with Ant and Dec.
Lionel even dared to enter the doors of the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2014, but became the third housemate to be evicted.
That same year he also popped up in medical soap opera Doctors.
He leaves behind wife Susan Davis and their three children and grandchildren.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends and many fans. We invite you to leave your memories and tributes to Lionel below.
