Wife of the late Phillip Bond, mother to 5, grandmother to 12 and great grandmother to 3. Lily epitomized grit and determination. Her father died when she was 4 and her mother raised the family on her own. She left school at 14 and worked settling children from bombed out East London. At 15 she joined the war effort at Hoffman's ball bearing factory. Lily met Phil at a work dance in Chelmsford. Lily loved children and believed in the power of education.
