PeterCHAMBERLINPrev. Newcastle Peter Chamberlin passed away peacefully after a short illness in Selby Hospital, North Yorkshire on Sunday 1st September. He was an Agric student at Kings College from 1952 to 1958 with two years' National Service in the middle. Prior to that he was at Newton Rigg. Retiring early from lecturing in Hertfordshire and Wiltshire, he became first a sub-postmaster in Stamfordham village for about 8 years, then had a shop in Teams, Gateshead then Chillingham Road, followed by Holly Avenue, Jesmond. Although a Southerner, he loved Newcastle and the friendly people he met and worked with. He would have been married for 60 years to Lynne (Marilyn). They had two sons - John and Mike. The family are having a cremation without ceremony and will scatter the ashes in a favourite place.

I have such fond memories of growing up next door to the Chamberlins in Wiltshire. Many happy Christmases together. Also, thank you to Peter for driving me to hospital after my altercation with a window after Lynne's expert first aid. Love to you all at this sad time. Carol x
