My family and I all remember Mr Collie from Northern District Primary school - he knew every child by name and personality and he cared about them all. He was a great head teacher and when we bumped into him a few years ago he knew us all by name. He will be missed.

Absolutely the best and most memorable teacher I ever had, back in the days when he was head of Johnshaven Primary School. I was happy to reconnect and to visit Alec and Alice last year, when he was on excellent form, sharp and witty as I remembered, with a remarkable recollection of the class of 1965. Doubly sorry to hear he has gone!
