Noel as I remember him!
I first met Noel as a rooky teacher. I first heard his laughter & saw his winning smile as he would give forth about matters in the staff room. I would listen attentively as I recognised this was a man that was far more experienced than I straight out if teacher training college. He really was inspirational & down to earth. I found his recollections of his WWII experiences on Gold beach during the Normandy landings riveting. What carnage he'd seen in battle was reflected fleetingly in his eyes & then he'd smile, returning to the topic at hand. My husband & I invited Noel & Katrine to our church at St Paul's in Slough. They were intrigued by the more charasmatic aspects of the service & so we were invited to have dinner with them both & share further. They were both such loving, hospitable people - I will always remember them both fondly. I'm sure Noel is at rest now after his long journey's end. A dear, dear man!
