Just so,so sad to hear about my old mate 'Duggie'
Added by Bernie Martin
To all of you who knew Duggie in later years, you have all my condolences, he was a lovely fella and I'm devastated to come across this notice of his death. Duggie and I were great friends after we first met at St Michael's in the Hamlet Primary School, Aigburth. We were both tall lads and played for the school footie team, he was a brilliant, determined player with the best shot and nose for goal I've ever seen but a really gentle soul off the field. We went through primary an junior school together and I was so happy that he joined me at the Liverpool Institute but my family moved south and we lost contact, only meeting up a couple of times in later years. Such a marvellous man and I hope all of his family and friends receive these words of mine, I am so upset by this news I don't know what to say. My love to all of you who knew Duggie, it was a privilege for me to spend my early years as a good mate of this wonderful man. Bernie Martin
