Sorry we were unable to come and say good-bye. My wonderful dad, John Edwards, was so very fond of you, his uncle, and your lovely wife, Eileen, and talked a lot about you throughout his life. I was so happy that I could bring him to see you once again before he passed and to meet with you myself a few times after that. I remember the first time we visited. We were in the car a few streets from your house trying to follow directions. I saw you standing on a street corner and immediately called out “There’s Walter!” Although I had never met you before, except, perhaps, when I was a baby. I would have recognised you anywhere as you looked so much like your oldest brother, John Edwards, my lovely Grandad, who died in 1983. I wish that I had been able to get to know you a little better but I’m so thankful that I got to know you at all. My dad instilled a love of Liverpool within me that I, like him, will always treasure. I’m proud to have been born in Liverpool and I’m proud of my Liverpool family. ❤️
