Nana - we were truly blessed to have you as matriarch to our family, especially when we achieved five successive generations of females: Nelly – Joan – Melanie – Katie – Freya.
Because of you, I fell in love with bolster pillows, layers of blankets (the weight of which felt so cosy, warm and heavenly), bread pudding and Jimmy Stewart films.
I consider myself fortunate to have been gifted so many wonderful memories from sleepovers to day trips and holidays shared. I will miss your flour coated hands, your cosy bosom hugs, your naughtiness (including the politically incorrect) and all your ‘ockard’ Nelly ways.
Most of all, I will truly miss the care, warmth and love that was, when you and my mum were together. To lose the two of you within less than fourteen hours of each other was simply brutal – beyond all words.
What more can I say . . .
