Nothing can ever prepare you for losing your Mum suddenly and unexpectedly. What compounds the agony is that we were not allowed to visit her in hospital.
How are we going to cope without you Mum? The shock, disbelief, and the pain at the thought of not seeing you or hearing your voice again is killing me. We are all heartbroken.
My Mum was a proud Liverpudlian; an advocate for everything great about this City. Stunningly attractive all her life, with teeth film stars would envy and a style of her own. She lives on visually in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Avril was not just a Wife, our Mum and Nan but also our confidante and the shoulder we cried on.
Mum – you never held back telling us what you thought – even if we didn’t want to hear the message, but it was always said with love and concern for us. And you were always right.
Oh, how I’ll miss the moans about us going to Away and European games and leaving you for days.
As ill-health forced your world to shrink, and life narrowed to enjoying your home and having your family close by, you found happiness pottering in the garden, being online to your mates worldwide as you all watched the match together and falling in love with the next generation of babies.
In the end you lived the life you wanted, doing the things you liked to do, with the people that mattered, in a house that was home to us all.
When the crying stops and the stories are recounted, we’ll laugh and recall our happy memories, the lovely holidays and how the happiest time of your life was when the grandkids were growing up.
Rest In Peace Avril Joyce Davies Jones – our protector, our role model, the woman who was so proud of our achievements and loved us all to her last breath. You will live on in all of us. We will miss you. Sleep well my angel. Thank you for everything.
Love you forever, your babe, Avril xxx
