HMS Anthony Veterans or Relatives

Since Dad's obituary was posted, the family have been astounded by the number of hits it has had. Mum was a Lay Preacher and Captain of The Girl's Brigade and she has been gone nearly 2 years now and she has had around 500 visitors. Dad will soon have 3000 and he has only been gone 6 months.
We can only assume that people have found Dad through internet searches on HMS Anthony. If there are old shipmates or family wishing to share memories we would be happy to hear from you. Dad also served on HMS Ambuscade in the North Atlantic but he would never tell us his first ship. We understand from heresay that he lied about his age and was sunk on his first ship and miraculously survived and was sent home. The irony is that Dad never learnt to swim until 1960 when I was seven. He was taught by my uncle who had a large wound in his shoulder from fighting in Italy.
If anybody does want to make contact my E-Mail address is keith.jordan@inbox. com
For all of you that come to Dad's site and read his obituary we wish you a big thank you. He was always a big hero to us as we grew up and it is only in the last few years that we have discovered what he did for his country. He never discussed his service until later in life, but when he did, it was like a burden was lifted from his shoulder.

Allan Jordan and 24th Dec 1944

On Xmas Eve 1944, dad served on HMS Anthony, it was involved in one of the most horrific events of the war for Allan. HMS Anthony was part of a convoy escoring the troop ship SS Leopoldville. The ship was hit by torpedoes. HMS Brilliant was ordered to try and rescue survivors, Dad's ship was ordered to depth charge even though there were people in the water. In all over 800 people died and dad had nightmares for years. All the crews and people involved were sworn to silence due to the embarrassment of both the British and American governments who refused to confirm the tragedy.
