DorothyKARWATPeacefully in the loving care of the Woodlands Care Home on Friday, May 13, Dorothy, aged 98, of Great Harwood. The devoted wife of the late John, much loved mum of Peter, Paul and Adele, dear mother-in-law of Maggie, Bev and David, cherished grandma of Louise, Joanne, Nicola and Stephanie, great-grandma of Charlie, Amelia, Alfie, Heidi, Roman and Alannah, dear sister of the late Kathleen, much loved family member and friend to many. Born and raised in Great Harwood, Dorothy was a well known and respected lady within the local community. Following her school years Dorothy began her working life in the local mills of Great Harwood. She later worked at the Oxo factory, where she made many good friends leading up to her retirement. Dorothy loved the outdoors and could often be seen marching over Whalley Nab or out and about with her beloved dog in tow; she loved all animals. She enjoyed going on holiday and spent many wonderful times away both with her late husband John and her many friends. Most of all Dorothy was a much loved family lady who will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Dorothy’s funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27, at 11am at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only please; donations can be made in memory of Dorothy on behalf of Dementia UK. To make a donation please visit www.champfunerals.com/obituaries or send to the funeral directors. Everyone is invited to join the family following the funeral service for a celebration of Dorothy’s life at Great Harwood Cricket Club; please feel free to make your way there if you are not able to visit the Crematorium. Funeral director: Champ Funeral Services, Clayton-le-Moors.
