I met Alan working for Marconi in 1978 on contract (both of us) at Wembley.
Alan had a great sense of humour, and was always able to tell you as many jokes as you wanted!
We remained friends for the rest of his life. When I met him he lived in Enfield, and from time to time my drinking mates and myself would drive over to share a few pints and lots of humour with him. He used to visit us in Brentwood as well.
His love life was a source of interesting conversations with us and we were pleasantly surprised when he married a lovely Swiss Lady called Anna. He was then living in Chelmsford, so we did attend a Fondue Party at their house. Eventually he moved back to his birthplace (I believe) in the North East.
Sadly Anna died a few years ago and sadly he was alone, but he did make friends readily, but was too far away for me to visit him.
I have many fond memories of him and miss him. RIP Alan. (Big Al)
