MauriceMURPHYMaurice David Murphy passed away peacefully at home on June 24th 2022 aged 87. He was the the youngest of 8 and last surviving sibling. He is survived by his daughters Jane and Nicola and many nieces and nephews. Maurice also had many local friends and neighbors who were always looking out for him and for whom his daughters will be forever grateful. As a young man "Moggy" was very active in the scouting movement in the Sevenoaks area. This is where he met Shirley, his wife of 47 years who predeceased him in 2007. During his time in the scouts Moggy became very involved in the local Gang shows. At first under the direction of his mentor Harry Watts and eventually as writer and director himself. In the 1970's Mr Murphy founded his company Bayham Pool Services and continued to work well into his 80's eventually retiring, reluctantly, when his health no longer allowed him to continue working. Having served in the Royal Signals in the past Mr Murphy developed an interest in Amateur radio and for many years, was a member of the Royal Signals Amateur Radio Society. This quickly became a favourite hobby and he was often to be found "tinkering" in his shed as he pored over his designs for a new antenna or other piece of equipment that he would take great delight in building. Maurice, along with his late wife Shirley, had a lifelong love of animals and he could often be seen walking his dog Bart around the local parks and footpaths...albeit at a slower pace in later years. Not one for a fuss or ceremony, Mr Murphy requested no funeral. However he did ask if anyone who wishes to do so, could make a donation in his name to the the Dogs Trust charity.
