Just can't believe it. I've been trying to track you down for years. We worked together at summer field center. You were an amazing person. So sad you've gone.

Dear Doreen, we met in 1979 when we both signed up for a jungle adventure driving from London to Johannesburg. We kept in touch ever since - you came to see me in Leeds, I visited you in Walthamstow, then we tried to meet when I lived in Liverpool, but something went wrong with the arrangement and it didn't happen. Yours was always the first Christmas card, and when it didn't arrive four or five years ago I was concerned. I tried to track you down, asked friends who live near you, occasionally searched on the internet. Now I realise what had happened. I'm glad you moved back to the north east where you were happy, but how sorry I am today for both you and your family. With love from Lesley Walton

Auntie Doreen,
I have so many fond memories of you growing up. You were such a big part of my childhood. I remember always being so excited to see you because you’d let me play with your collection of instruments and tell me what parts of the world you got them from. I now sit and play musical instruments with my darling Hartley & when I do I think of you.
Iconic, free spirited and unforgettable.
Love you always. Chloe 💓
