GeorgePRIORGeorge Prior was born in Albany Road, Pontycymmer on October 20, 1930 to Harriet and Jim Prior. He died on Monday December 21, 2020 at the home of his beloved daughter Sian and her husband Robert, in Newtown, Connecticut. George leaves behind his wife Nita, his children Stephen and Sian and grandchildren Alec, Brenna and Callum. He is survived by his brother Vernon, sisters Miriam and Margaret. He was predeceased by his brother Peter and sister Melba. George led a full and active life. He worked in the Ffaldau colliery as a fitter and turner and then, as supervisor in Miles Laboratory in Bridgend. On his weekends away from work he built their home Hibank in Coity, and still found time to teach swimming in the old Llangeinor swim club. He lived with his family in New Zealand and spent his later years in America enjoying his retirement with his many hobbies and crafts. In 2001 he was awarded a Crafty Senior Award for building a replica of Coity Castle for his grandson, Alec, which still stands in splendor guarded by the many soldiers they had fun choosing. To his delight, his hobby made the local news channel. He loved building miniature furniture for his granddaughter and the doll's house that she will cherish. He always said "I was born a Welshman and I will die a Welshman, he loved music and as he grew older so did his collection. George died peacefully surrounded by his family loved and sorely missed by them all. Nita Prior
