FrancesSAYNORMrs Frances Saynor - nee Yates - of Blackburn Road, Great Harwood, passed away on Monday, July 5, aged 89. Frances worked at the ROF - Royal Ordnance Factories - before she married Frank. She devoted her life to raising her children, latterly working at ‘Rishy Crisps’ and on retirement as a welfare assistant at Great Harwood Nursery - a job she loved. Frances was also involved with St John’s Ambulance for a few years during her children’s teenage years. She enjoyed walking her dogs Bess and Ben and latterly spent her time watching soaps and ‘Columbo’ repeats with her beloved cat Sooty. Wife of the late Frank Saynor - former Great Harwood Town Crier - she was sister of Dennis and the late John, Jimmy, Dorothy and Tom. She was also mother of Elaine, Claire, Peter and Martin and mother-in-law of Paul, David and Cheryl. She was the much-loved ‘Grandma Frances’ of Shaun, Laura, Rebecca, Sam, Sarah, Toni-Louise, Arron and Jodie and great-grandma of Heidi, Mica-Grace and Ajay. A Requiem Mass will be held at 10am on Wednesday, July 21, at St Wulstan’s RC Church, Rushton Street, Great Harwood, administered by Father Ian Farrell, followed by interment at Rishton and Great Harwood Cemetery, Lee Lane. Family flowers only please, however donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Moggies Cat Rescue in memory of Frances, to support the care of stray cats. All further enquiries should be directed to Great Harwood Funeral Service, 3, Clayton Street, Great Harwood.
