So sorry to hear the devastating news of John. We were childhood mates from before school, playing in his front room looking out over the paddlers for hours on end. So glad I got to meet up again a couple of years ago with Andrew Young and John in the Boathouse for a meal. We all agreed we would do it again when we had a chance and now that is not going to happen, such a shame. My thoughts are with John's family at this difficult time

Absolutely devastated to hear the sad news of John's passing. We were very close friends since we were 4 years old and went through all schools together. Playing down on the beach, over the dunes, around the quarry and only home when it was nearly dark......Great memories to look back on and always an adventure.
You were loved and respected by everyone who knew you John. One of life's true gentlemen and taken from us when you still had so much more to do and give.
Rest in Peace my friend, it has been an absolute pleasure to know you.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Neil, Bernadette, Katherine and Anna right now and if there is any chance that I can attend a celebration of John's life, please let me know Neil. I am back living in Amble.

So sorry to hear of John's passing, he will be remembered with great fondness from all of us who attended the Dukes School together. Back then he was our gentle giant and our secret weapon on the rugby field. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to John's close family at this difficult time. Rest in peace John. In my thoughts, Steve Davison (Davo).

I am proud to say I knew you John
You were a genuine guy and a friendlier bloke you could not meet
My wife and I first met you on the coquet run and you made us feel very welcome
We have met on subsequent outings and the last time we met was in Holland on the xxxcorps run
We are so sad to hear you are no longer with us pal
It was a great pleasure to have known you
Rest easy John
