SheilaWOODCOCKIt is with great sadness that the family of Mrs Sheila Woodcock announces her passing on Monday, May 2, at the age of 73. She passed away peacefully at her home in Baxenden, surrounded by her loving family. Devoted wife of Geoff, loving mum of John and Julie, precious nanna of Ewan, Sam, and Millie, dear mother-in-law of Liese and Darren, much loved sister, auntie, cousin, and friend. Sheila was born in Hensingham, Cumbria, and moved to Accrington when she married Geoff. She had several jobs over the years, including working at Baxenden Chemicals, Graham and Brown, and Donald Lomax. Sheila was also known as the ‘Avon Lady’ and a Guide Leader in Baxenden. Sheila loved to travel, and particularly enjoyed cruising; her favourite being the transatlantic crossing on the Queen Mary II, which Sheila and Geoff enjoyed several times. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care team (especially Eileen) and the Hyndburn district nurses for the amazing care given to Sheila; you were her angels; Dr Desi and his secretary Sarah, and the Peel House Medical Centre for all their support and kindness. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 11, at Accrington Crematorium. Donations most welcome to Breast Cancer UK c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
