Just found out the Mr Brown had passed even though we had been looking for last two years due cards being returned. Mr Brown saved my life 46 years ago when l was only 12 and half and diagnosed with an osteosarcoma, after removing my full leg and half my hip when l was 14; l survived thanks to his understanding of the dangers of this terrible form of bone cancer. We kept in touch via Christmas cards every year and on the odd occasion bumped into each other when l came home in Ayr. I have two beautiful daughters and recently my very first granddaughter to which none of this would have happened if it hadn’t been for Mr Brown. My deepest sympathy to all his family. In my life he is the last of many who did all they could to save my life when l was just a child and succeeded, thank you

Douglas came to Seafield Sick Children's Hospital when I was a very young Orthopaedic Sister. He had just returned from Africa and started his new post as Registrar to Gordon Watt and James McCardle. I have very many memories of those days. I was always pleased he made his home in Ayr and served the county well with his Orthopaedic skills.
My condolences to his Family

Mr Brown was a dear friend, as well as being my surgeon for many years. The joint replacements he gave me have given me my life back and allowed me a quality of life that, prior to these ops, I could only have dreamed of.
You will be greatly missed.
Condolences to Jean and all of his family.
